The question often asked is: burial or cremation? The answer is a matter of choice, but give consideration to these points:
- 75% of all funerals are cremations
- The cost (a burial is considerably more expensive than a cremation)
- A burial additionally requires a headstone, which can add a further $2000-$4000 expense, and an ongoing maintenance fee
- A cremation is more environment-friendly — ashes can be scattered, kept at home in an urn; or placed in a wall of remembrance, or interred in a plot, which takes up considerably less space than a grave
